The city draws in over 850,000 international tourists every year and about 3.6 billion domestic visitors from all over the country who wish for a quick vacation get-away.

The Gold Coast has a very ideal weather conditions. The area receives an average of 245 days of sun and fine weather each year, with temperatures averaging in the 20's all year round. This very favourable climate makes it ideal for a wide range of attractions and activities. For one, the Gold Coast is home to four theme parks that are all well-visited. The Movie World, Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild and Dreamworld are filled with only the best rides and sights that are great for the whole family.

The city is composed of about 57 kilometres of wondrous coastline and hosts the most popular surfing beaches in Australia such as the Main Beach, the Spit, the South Stradbroke Island, the Surfer's Paradise, the Coolangatta, among many others. Along Gold Coast's navigable tidal water ways are inland beaches which include the Southport, Jacobs Well and Marine Stadium Beaches.

Adventure attractions are also endless in the Gold Coast which include parasailing, motor bike tours, hot air ballooning, sky diving, power boating, jet skiing, go karting, motor racing and helicopter tours. Deep sea fishing charters, dolphin and whale watching tours, as well as marine activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, are also popular in the area. Furthermore, the Gold Coast houses over 20 of the leading golf resorts in the country, all with very picturesque views and manicured greens.

Going inland from Gold Coast leads to the three marvellous World Heritage listed National Parks in the area - Burleigh Heads, Lamington, Springbrook and Tambourine. Burleigh Heads is most popular of them due to its close proximity, scenic ocean view and walking tracks. All these National Parks lead to the amazing rainforests and the most beautiful natural attractions in the state. Lamington, Tambourine and Springbrook all feature beautiful waterfalls and stunning natural lookouts. The Natural Bridge at Springbrook is a very popular attraction with its glow worms that light up the cave during night time. One can experience the hiking and walking tracks in the National Parks, enjoy a picnic or some barbecue with the family, or simply relax and be one with nature.

A recent local landmark is the Q1 Building which is also a very famous destination in the area. It has an observation deck located at level 77 which is the highest in Queensland and offers the most beautiful expansive views of the region in all directions. Another such landmark is the three Towers of Chevron Renaissance.

To accommodate the innumerable tourists that visit the area each year, there are a wide variety of accommodation options in the area which include resorts (for the beach bums), classy hotels, caravan parks and backpackers hostels, and apartments, all situated in strategic locations which are very accessible to the city's most interesting sites. Restaurants are also abundant in the area, featuring all kinds of cuisines, local delicacies and foods that will fit all tastes and preferences. Indeed, Gold Coast is one destination that has it all.

Gold Coast Suburbs

The most visited place in Queensland and one of the most popular tourist destinations of Australia is located in the southeast corner of Queensland. Sitting pretty right on the coast and enjoying a 3-kilometer beachfront is the gem of Gold Coast, the Surfers Paradise.

Relatively quieter than its immediate neighbor Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach is a soothing getaway from the hustle of the city life.

Located in the southernmost part of Gold Coast, with a population of about 4000 people, is the airport suburb of Coolangatta. There is an interesting piece of history associated with the naming of Coolangatta.

Just 6 minutes drive north of Surfers Paradise will take you to the original administrative center of the Gold Coast, Southport. One of the densely populated areas in Australia, Southport thrives as a business district.

A suburb of Gold Coast, Main Beach is the main tourist attraction around Gold Coast. It's a small district snuggled between Southport Broadwater and the Pacific Ocean.

Nestled between Coolangatta and Surfers Paradise is nature's very own Burleigh Heads. This beautiful suburb of Gold Coast is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the east, Miami to the north, Burleigh Waters and West Burleigh to the west and Tallebudgera to the south.

The Gold Coast Broadwater is a shallow estuary found in the eastern end of Australia. It used to be a lagoon created by the water from the Nerang River.

Located at the center of the city of Gold Coast, Mermaid Beach is just 5 minutes drive from Surfers Paradise. The Gold Coast Highway passes through the Mermaid Beach making it a well-connected suburb of Gold Coast.

One of the suburbs located in the city of Golf Coast is Biggera Waters, named after the creek that runs through it. It is one of the suburbs facing the Broadwater estuary, and the South Pacific Ocean beyond.

Labrador is primarily a residential suburb in the city of Gold Coast, fronting the Broadwater estuary in the east. It is bounded by several suburbs, Biggera Waters in the north, Southport in the south, and Arundel in the west.

Tamborine Mountain is the most northerly plateau and positioned directly west from Surfers Paradise. An hour's drive by car from Brisbane, Mount Tamborine is a volcanic plateau set within the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Inland from the Sunshine Coast lies the naturally beautiful Hinterland or Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Nature is at its full glory in Hinterland with spectacular Blackall Ranges and numerous National Parks and rainforests.

Tugun is a suburb that offers a more relaxing and laidback atmosphere compared to the rest of the suburbs of Gold Coast. It is situated on the southern part of the city, between the suburbs of Currumbin and Bilinga.

A suburb of Gold Coast, Palm Beach is situated between Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek. As with any other beach location at Gold Coast, Palm Beach has excellent surf. Though a little underdeveloped beach, Palm Beach was twice voted the cleanest beach in Queensland.

Nobby Beach is one of the picturesque and quiet beach-place in Gold Coast to enjoy a relaxed weekend with the family. Located just 10 minutes drive from Coolangatta Gold Coast Airport and 87 kilometers from Brisbane; Nobby Beach is a perfect holiday destination.

Located to the west of Southport, Ashmore is a well established and one of the popular suburbs of Gold Coast. It's just 73 kilometers to Brisbane and 9 kilometers to Surfers Paradise.
